Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have just released a new trailer full of fierce fighting scenes of "Underworld: Blood Wars".

After four movies and countless customized-bullet castings, the blood feud between vampires and lycanthropes has blossomed into Underworld: Blood Wars. The trailer for the fifth film in the Underworld series was released Wednesday, and it appears that in this installment of the franchise, Kate Beckinsale’s werewolf-hunting vampire will be teaming up with House Lannister and House Forrester to battle House Tully, as Charles Dance returns (he was in 2012’s Underworld: Awakening) while Tobias Menzies and Lara Pulver join the series for the first time. On Game of Thrones, Dance played Tyrion Lannister and Menzies plays Edmure Tully; Pulver voiced Lady Elissa Forrester in the Game of Thrones game Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series. Even the Game of Thrones sets seem to have crossed over to Underworld: Blood Wars, which is chock full of snowy courtyards and grand staircases (plus motorcycles and catsuits).

"The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice."

Anna Foerster is directing Underworld: Blood Wars. She previously directed episodes of the television series Criminal Minds and Outlander and is widely known for her work as cinematographer on epic blockbusters such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down.

The screenplay for Underworld: Blood Wars was penned by Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest) and based on characters originally created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg (The Lincoln Lawyer, Million Dollar Baby), Gary Lucchesi (Million Dollar Baby, Underworld), and Richard S. Wright (The Lincoln Lawyer, Underworld) are producing as are David Kern (Underworld: Awakening), along with Len Wiseman (Underworld, Total Recall).

Underworld: Blood Wars is slated to open on Jan. 6, 2017.
