Creed star Michael B. Jordan is jumping in the directing ring.
From his early role in HBO’s The Wire to his star-making turn in Creed and his upcoming villainy in Marvel’s Black Panther, the 30-year-old has proven to be a talented actor. But Jordan doesn’t just want to be one thing. Now Michael B. Jordan is looking to expand his filmmaking range, planning to produce, write and direct The Stars Beneath Our Feet.
“Directing has been an area I’ve wanted to explore for some time now,” Michael B. Jordan said. “The Stars Beneath Our Feet tells a story that really spoke to me, and I’m looking forward to jumping behind the camera. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some very smart and talent directors and it inspired me to take on this new challenge.”
Endeavor Content picked up the rights to David Barclay Moore's book this September, and is now looking to have Jordan tackle the adaptation. The novel finds a young black boy, in the wake of his brother’s death, using the magic of Legos to navigate a safe path through the dangerous projects in Harlem, New York. Moore will pen the screenplay and also serve as an executive producer. Per Amazon’s description of the book, “The Stars Beneath Our Feet” is “a powerful portrait of a boy teetering on the edge—of adolescence, of grief, of violence—and shows how Lolly’s inventive spirit helps him build a life with firm foundations and open doors.”
Besides Raising Dion, Jordan was most recently attached to star opposite Michael Shannon in an adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 from 99 Homes director Ramin Bahrani. 2018 pronises to be a busy year for Jordan. The Friday Night Lights alum will next be seen in Marvel’s Black Panther, followed by HBO’s Fahrenheit 451. He’s also set to relace the gloves for the Sylvester Stallone-directed Creed 2.
