Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury is confirmed to show up in Captain Marvel.
In recent weeks, rumors began to swirl that Captain Marvel would feature Nick Fury and bring Samuel L. Jackson back to the MCU. Now, it looks like those reports have been softly confirmed by Deadline. The vetted site just posted an article which says they’ve heard “it’s true that Jackson will be making an appearance in the movie.”
Fury was one of the first figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe audiences met, making his initial appearance in the original Iron Man back in 2008. Helping form the original Avengers team that saved New York from the Chitauri invasion, Fury has had roles in several Marvel movies since his debut, including both Avengers team-ups and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Jackson is also part of the star-studded Infinity War cast, which is just one of the many projects he has done or has signed on for since his most recent Marvel film, Avengers: Age of Ultron. The actor has kept busy since, doing recent films like xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and the documentary I Am Not Your Negro, among many others.
With Brie Larson attached to star as test pilot-turned-super-powered human Carol Danvers, the first female-led superhero project under Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe has slowly been developing, written by Guardians Of The Galaxy's Nicole Perlman and Inside Out's Meg LeFauve. Half Nelson and Mississippi Grind directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were hired to make the movie back in April, with a release date targeted for 8 March, 2019.
Official confirmation of Jackson’s involvement in Captain Marvel is still to come, along with more insight on how Fury will be involved with Danvers’ story. Hopefully, that will come soon. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated!
