Robert Pattinson is interested in appearing in a possible Twilight movie spin-off.
The Twilight star has revealed that he would actually consider returning to the franchise if Summit Entertainment planned on expanding it. Chatting to Yahoo Movies, the actor confessed he's tempted by anything that would 'subvert' audience expectations, which we reckon a return to Twilight would definitely do. When asked if he would be up for a return to the Cullen role as the studio looks to make more Twilight movies.
"Really, they’re expanding it? So I’ll get my own spin-off?" Rob enthused.
"I mean, I'm always kind of curious," he revealed. "Anything where there's a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the idea of subverting people's expectations.
"So there could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It's always difficult when there's no source material. But, yeah, I'm always curious."
Kristen Stewart, Robert's Twilight co-star and ex, also looks back on the series in a relatively fond way – although we're not so sure she'd be up for any kind of future spin-off.
"I really never felt bogged down by Twilight," she said. "Every step turns you into the person you are, and yeah, it shaped me enormously. Not just those movies, but the subsequent effect."
Based on Stephenie Meyer’s books of the same name, Twilight spawned five films between 2008 and 2012: Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and raked in over $3 billion dollars at the box office. Making huge stars out of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson, the series still remains as popular today among young adult adult audiences as it did then. The last Twilight film was released in 2012 and since then Robert has focused on more independent features and supporting roles. He appeared in his second David Cronenberg feature, Maps to the Stars, and Brady Corbet's critically-acclaimed The Childhood of a Leader. In his latest movie, The Lost City of Z, Rob plays adventurer Henry Costin who teams up with Charlie Hunnam's Colonel Percival Fawcett to find a mysterious Amazonian city. The British actor has five more films expected in cinemas this year and next, including Damsel, in which he reunites with his Maps to the Stars co-star Mia Wasikowska.
