Miley Cyrus appears to have voiced a secret character in the Marvel superhero sequel, according to lifestyle blogger Sarah Ruhlman on Twitter – after she attended a screening for the movie.
According to an official Twitter posting from lifestyle blogger Sarah Ruhlman, pop star Miley Cyrus will be lending her vocal talents to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 by way of playing original Marvel Comics character Mainframe.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, actor Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, seemingly confirmed Cyrus has a role in the film, saying, “I heard that she’s uncredited and a voice somewhere.” He couldn’t remember the details but added, “I know I’ve heard that.”
According to Ruhlman’s tweet, Cyrus is the voice of Mainframe. In the comics, Mainframe is an evolved technology that’s actually an alternative version of Vision. DenOfGeek explains Mainframe’s history:
“In the Guardians future, the Vision had evolved to make up the operating system of an entire planet. Calling himself Mainframe, this hero from the past was tasked with protecting the shield of Captain America and later joined the Galactic Guardians.”
As for Miley Cyrus, her role as Mainframe marks her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Unvierse. While she is best known as a singer, she is no stranger to acting, having starred in the hit TV series Hannah Montana (for Disney no less), and movies such as So Undercover, LOL, The Night Before and the recent Amazon hit series Crisis in Six Scenes.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin.
