Police are currently searching for a man accused of “performing a lewd act” at a Friday Howell, New Jersey showing of “The Emoji Movie.”
According to a report from PIX 11 in New York, the suspect was seen allegedly with his hands down his open pants by a mother with her children during a showing of the film, police told The Hollywood Reporter. The suspect, who was sitting in the back row, was kicked out of the theater by staff after the mother went to complain to the manager.
The woman called the police later in the day and they now want to speak to the man in connection with the allegation that he pleasured himself over an array of sassy emoticons, including a bowel movement voiced by Sir Patrick Stewart.
Howell Police department now want the public's help in finding the man, who they describe as heavy-set and in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing black trousers and a white shirt at the cinema and had facial hair. Police even have released a CCTV image of the suspect in the hope that someone will recognise him and come forward.
The Emoji Movie has been received poorly by reviewers and is rated at just 6% by aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. However, the movie, directed by Tony Leondis and starring T.J. Miller, has made $25.7 million at the box office at the time of this writing. It’s not clear how many people have attempted to masturbate like this man in their theaters, just as it’s not clear why he didn’t just stay at home watching the movie here, doing whatever he wants like the rest of us.
In 1991, “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” actor Paul Reubens was busted for masturbating in an adult movie theater. That was bad, but this is way worse: This man was bold enough to pleasure himself during a family animated film, with children in the audience.
