Here are 5 interesting facts about the series that you should know before reuniting with Prison Break after its 8-year hiatus.
1. Michael is Alive
Before the panel discussions, fans were treated to a screening of the first episode, ahead of its April 4 premiere on Fox. The episode picks up seven years after season 4 left off as Lincoln (Purcell) discovers his brother Michael (Miller) is alive. The circumstances around his "death" will be essential to the revival, and they won't be revealed right away, so expect to stick around for the long haul to learn how the writers pulled this off.
2. More Action Guaranteed
In addition to Michael, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), and Sara, expect to see T-Bag (Robert Knepper), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and Kellerman (Paul Adelstein) returning for more prison-breaking action.
3. IS Will Be Mentioned
American prisons? Been there, done that. The revival moves the action out of the relative comforts of Uncle Sam and into the turbulent region of the Middle East. Specifically, Yemen, where ISIS has caused civil war and one ugly, nasty prison houses some of the worst in the world. How did our gang end up there? That's a major part of Season 5's plot.
4. Dominic Purcell (Lincoln) Almost Killed on Set
Prison Break star Dominic Purcell was seriously hurt in an accident on the set of the new event-series installment of the Fox drama, which is filming in Morocco. He suffered a broken nose and head injury during shooting when a set piece was dislodged and fell on his head. He was flown by emergency helicopter from Marrakesh to Casablanca for urgent hospital treatment, while his girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord, who was on set at the time, travelled with him.
“Had a little accident on set. Haha! Back at work asap. Pays to have a thick skull when an iron bar falls on your #head!!” he wrote. “Busting it open severely also broke my nose in two places. Haha. I got a free nose job out of it...... Stoked to be alive. All good.”
5. Prison Break Banned in 13 Prisons
Rattled by calculations and manipulations that went into Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) prison breakout, 13 prisons across the United States banned the show from being aired to inmates. Reason? The wardens were worried it might inspire a wave of attempted “Prison Breaks” in their institutions.
