This Christmas, did you think of the chipmunks? It is odd that a hibernating rodent would become associated with Christmas, but that is the miracle of radio and a hit song for Alvin and the Chipmunks back in 1958 (when they were known simply as The Chipmunks). In late 2007, the musical comedy Alvin and The Chipmunks made a huge splash worldwide right after the release.

Our main characters, three chipmunks who can sing and dance, have won over millions people, especially children. Alvin and The Chipmunks has grossed over $361.33 million while its budget is only $60 million.

After that success, 20th Century Fox decided to make the sequels: Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel released (2009) and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011). Although the following installments' quality is not as good as the first movie, undeniably the chipmunks earned Fox a huge turnover. The second movie brought back $443.14 million, the third one ended up making almost $343 million while the production cost for each movie is only $75 million.

Well, as with most things in Hollywood, money takes precedence over more sensible action, and we'll be treated to a fourth installment, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip which will be released this January. The movie is considered as one of the best Alvin and the Chipmunks movies since Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman in 80s with its humor, clever script, unexpected details, great music, many touching scenes and some amazing guest stars.

Here are 4 reasons why Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is totally worth watching.

1.    Sense of Humor

It is obvious that any movie with talking animals is great for kids. And Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is definitely not an exception. The movie also amases the adults with many fun references from classic movies like The Shining and Terminator. Therefore, this is the perfect movie for families.

2. Music

Like the previous movies, there will be many pop hits, including an amazing song of Uptown Funk, in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. Many young viewers might know those songs by heart and probably many will sing along.

3. The Cast and the Guest Stars

Jason Lee comes back as Dave, Jesse McCartney voices Theodore, Matthew Gray Gubler voices Simon, Justin Long voices Alvin, Kaley Cuoco stars Eleanor and Anna Faris voices Jeanette.
There is some remarkable cast like Tony Hale as the main villain Air Marshall Benson, Retta (Parks and Recreation on NBC) as the party planner. The young viewers will definitely recognize some of the Disney stars such as Bella Thorne and Laura Marano.

4. The Plot

There is no successful movie without an awesome plot. Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in Miami... and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.

In summary, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is a great choice for your family. For those who have kids and want to have some quality family time or those who just simply want to laugh, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is a movie you should not miss.
