16 Upcoming Sequels No One Asks for (Part 1)

They basically don't need to happen!

1. Avatar 5

Isn't it a bit early to plan for the fifth installment of the franchise already while the second and the third are not even released yet? How much blue Sam Worthington can we really take?

2. Blade Runner 2049

Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

How the new film could possibly improve or add to the original's legacy?

3. Bill & Ted 3

The as-of-yet-untitled story will be set roughly two decades after 1989's "Excellent Adventure" and it's 1991 sequel, "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey." Winter revealed that "Bill & Ted will be 40-something and it's all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up."

Does anyone really want to see the cute, youthful, lovable idiots sliding into uncute, late middle age?

4. Die Hard: Year One

Die Hard: Year One (working title) is the sixth and (possibly) final installment of the Die Hard franchise, which will serve as a prequel and a sequel.

After A Good Day to Die Hard, it's not controversial to say that the series feels completely played out. Bruce Willis doesn't seem to care anymore, so how are we expected to muster the enthusiasm for some sort of origin-story monstrosity?

5. Toy Story 4

Woody and Buzz go on an adventure to find the one toy who was given away... Bo Peep. The film is described as a "new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the Toy Story gang."

But, Toy Story 3 ended on such a perfect note that we don't want to risk tainting that memory.

6. Indiana Jones 5

The movie follows the further adventures of daredevil archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford).

Our working theory is that a witch cursed Harrison Ford to return to all his classic movie roles. Star Wars is one thing, but after the train wreck of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, we'd rather Indy was left to rest in peace.

7. Escape Plan 2

Sequel to the 2013 film that featured a security expert named Ray Breslin, who used his skills to test out the reliability of maximum security prisons.

How much more exciting can a sequel be, one with an even more impenetrable jail, perhaps?, especially when Arnie is yet to sign up?

8. Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes

Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt) ask the legendary Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp) to solve the case of missing garden gnomes in London.

The original Gnomeo & Juliet hardly made a huge splash in 2011. So we'll all be forgiven for being less than excited about a seven-years-in-the-making mash-up sequel adding Johnny Depp to the cast as 'Sherlock Gnomes'.
